Sound Insulation Testing
In July 2003 the new Approved Document
E of the Building Regulations came into force. This requires
that at least 10% of all new residential properties are tested
to demonstrate that the levels of sound insulation provided between
dwellings are in compliance with the requirements of ADE 2003.
Companies who do the testing should be either UKAS Accredited
or ANC Registered.
The ANC Registration Scheme applies
only to sound insulation tests as specified in the Regulations.
It applies only to testing and the reporting of tests, not to
advice on remedial works, although many members offer diagnostic
services and remedial advice outside the registration scheme.
The scheme is run by the Association of Noise Consultants for
its members and is overseen by a committee of the ANC.
