Ed Clarke started
his work in noise and vibration at IBM UK Ltd., who sponsored
his acoustics degree at ISVR. His work on disk drive
noise and vibration also involved investigations into transit
shock damage throughout a global distribution network.
In 1992 he moved
into consultancy at Hann Tucker Associates in Woking,
gaining valuable experience in a commercial consulting
practice. Ed then joined Alan Saunders, a previous
chairman of the ANC, who had recently established his
own consultancy and was operating as a sole trader.
Alan
Saunders Associates has grown dramatically since, and
Ed has
been Technical Director since its transition to a limited
company. Ed takes an active role in IOA and ANC meetings
and working groups. Specifically, he was involved in
establishing the ANC Registration Scheme for pre-completion
sound insulation testing, and chaired its first standing
committee.

his career working in the noise section of two local authorities
